Cantina Colli Euganei – a wine cooperative from the zone of Colli Euganei, Euganean Hills, in the region of Veneto, located in the town of Vo’ Euganeo. Founded in 1949, today it brings together 680 winegrowers with 700 ha of vineyards. Here are made DOC and DOCG wines, these are light whites and well-structured and pretty intense reds. The most famous wine from this area is Fior d’Arancio, sparkling sweet wine of Moscato Giallo (Yellow Moscato), extremely popular among local clients. Hilly situated vineyards in the north give young and sparkling wines with floral and fruity notes, in the places most exposed to the sun sweet Fior d’Arancios, while in the south quite intense and velvety ones. Historically, this zone was formed 130 million years ago, as there are fossils in the area of the Regional Park spreading over the Euganean Hills. These volcanic soils are favourable to grapegrowing, here are cultivated some native grape varieties like Serprina (related to Glera, from which Prosecco is made), Moscato Giallo, Moscato Bianco and international such as Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet Franc.
Cantina Colli Euganei is a company with certificates, provided with latest winemaking equipment and focused on quality of wine. However, technology is combined with tradition, culture and passion for wine brought by winegrowers. Two million of bottles made by the company is the result of hard work in the vineyard and in the estate, guided by skilled and professional people.
Colli Euganei is a very charming zone, here are many beautiful towns and bicycle paths, frequented by enthusiasts of this sport. Extremely delighting is Arqua Petrarca, the town enlisted by Unesco and one of the most beautiful corners of Italy. Francesco Petrarch, the medieval bard and poet, spent the end of his life here. Colli Euganei is worth seeing, as it offers an excellent possibility to relax, after visiting crowded Venice. Veneto has a few „faces”, each has its own history and beauty, like these hills spreading at the foothills of Dolomites.
