Vigne Sannite - Centro Cooperativo Agroalimentare Sannita - an agriculture consortium of the town of Salella, near Castelvenere in Campania. Our supplier from Campagnia is located in the territory of Samnites, the so-called Terre Sannite. The name comes from the Latin, Sanniti, ancient Italic peoples who lived in the areas in the east to Lazio. Such is also the name of the DOC appellation wines originating from this zone.

In 2005 a group of the local winegrowers decided to join forces, what resulted in the wine cooperative, which makes wines of excellent quality from grapes provided by its members. These wines are expression of Samnites‘ territory. A white Falanghina and native Agostinella are unique in the whole range of the wines produced by Cecas. The wines from the DOC Terre Sannite and Campania IGP are made here with great care, hence maintain their unique character. Certainly, our partner merits a title of producer with quality mark. Similarly, his products representing the character of this interesting and picturesque place in the south of Italy.

    Dry white wine of Campanian native Falanghina grape. It comes from the vineyards located in the surroundings of Monte Taburno, the Taburno Mount, in the province of Benevento, in the north-eastern part of the region. This grape variety had already been known in the Roman times, but was well naturalized in these areas at the beginning of the XIX century. The suitable climate, especially big temperature differences between day and night, provide excellent growing conditions for this white grape variety. Falanga in Latin means a pole supporting the vine, hence the name of the wine and grape variety. This is a well-structured wine, soft and with marked mineral note. Falanghina is one of the most famous wines of Campania, appreciated by so famous wine experts as Luigi Veronelli, which wrote about it: authentic and precious treasure.

    Dry white wine of Campanian native Greco grape. It comes from the vineyards located in the surroundings of Monte Taburno, the Taburno Mount, in the province of Benevento, in the north-eastern part of the region. As its name suggests, the wine was brought along by the Greeks to ancient Italy. Thus, this grape variety was already known in ancient times, Virgil and Pliny wrote about its merits. The Sannio zone, with many areas rich in minerals, is suitable for growing of these noble white grapes, collected in autumn in October. This is a wine with rich and elegant structure, unusually original.

    Dry white wine of the autochthonous Coda di Volpe grape of Campania. It comes from the vineyards located in the surroundings of Castelvenere, in the province of Benevento, in the north-eastern part of the region. The name of the grape variety, literally meaning fox`s tail, is related to the shape of grape cluster. Characterized by a well-marked mineral, almost salty, note, this ancient grape variety, strongly linked to Sannites` territory, is expression of this zone. There was a time when it was used only in a blend with other white grapes, but today established itself as a single-variety wine.

    Dry white wine of Campanian native Fiano grape. It comes from the vineyards situated in the hilly areas, in the provinces of Benevento and Avellino, in the north-eastern part of the region. The name of the grape variety comes from the Latin words Vitis Aspiane and is related to the sweetness of grapes, very liked by bees. The vineyards situated high and big temperature differences result in the wine that is characterized by finesse and strongly marked aromatic note. Fiano has a big potential of ageing and enhances its values even after a few years after bottling.

    Dry red wine of Campania‘s native Piedirosso grape. It comes from the vineyards located in the surroundings of Monte Taburno, the Taburno Mount, in the province of Benevento. Besides famous Aglianico, this ancient grape variety is one of the most typical Campanian vines. The original dialectal name, Per e‘palummo, literally means dove‘s foot with its characteristic redish color, similarly the color of the steam and bunches of the Piedirosso. This wine is not aged in wood, nicely dry and soft, with a beautifully marked fruit note. An interesting native wine, worth testing with food.

    Dry red wine of Campanian native grape called Barbera del Sannio. It comes from vineyards located in the hill areas in the surroundings of Castelvenere, in the province of Benevento in the north-eastern part of the region. Usually associated with Piedmont, Barbera, cultivated here since two centuries, is, however, a different wine with other character than its cousin from the north. The local winegrowers proudly claim that their Barbera is much better. Indeed, is worth tasting to appreciate this pleasant wine scenting of fruit.

    Dry red wine of Campanian native grape variety called Aglianico. This wine named Barolo of the south not without reason is compared to the great wine of Piedmont. Aglianico is an ancient grape, naturalized in the south part of Italy since centuries. It was introduced here by the Greeks, and received its name from the word Elleanico. Aglianico of our producer comes from vineyards situated in the hill areas in the surroundings of Castelvenere, in the province of Benevento, in the north-eastern part of the region. The local clone of this grape is called Aglianico del Taburno and is characterized by the best quality among the grape family of Aglianico. The volcanic and sandy soils and big temperature differences between day and night are suitable for its growing. Such vinegrowing conditions are provided in the Sannio zone. The local Aglianico is ripe at the end of October and the harvest is done during November. It is a wine with a big potential for ageing. With time enhances its values and broadens an array of aromas. Aglianico del Sannio was aged for six months in wood barrels and for the following six months in the bottle.

    Dry sweet wine of Campanian grape called Moscato Bianco. White Moscato locally called Moscatelo comes from vineyards located in the hill areas in the surroundings of Castelvenere, in the province of Benevento, in the north-eastern part of the region. The aromatic grape of Moscato is also naturalized here, on clayey-calcareous soils and sunny vineyards in the south. The harvest is done the end of September the beginning of October, when Moscato grapes are very ripe. From grapes full of natural sweetness is obtained an excellent wine in the passito version. This term signifies the fermentation technique called in Italian appassimento that is drying of collected grapes on special racks in air-ventilated rooms. After the harvest grapes concentrate aromatic potential for more than a month and next are transformed into wine. The passito of our producer was aged for six months in wood.

    Flavor: sweet, velvety.
